Job Title: Clinical Pharmacist I
Location: Remote (U.S.)
Duration: 6 Months (High possibility of extension)
Schedule: 10:00 AM 6:30 PM EST (Overtime possible)


Pay Range: $55.00 - $62.00 Per hr. on w2.

Position Summary

The Clinical Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing medication prior authorization requests and coverage determinations, developing clinical criteria, supporting formulary management activities, and ensuring quality pharmacy practices across multiple lines of business.

The role also supports utilization management initiatives, medication therapy management (MTM) programs, and pharmacy policy development while collaborating with internal clinical and case management teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and evaluate medication prior authorization requests and coverage determinations
  • Develop standard and custom formularies for assigned plans
  • Develop clinical criteria for medications and recommend formulary or plan design changes
  • Support implementation of clinical pharmacy programs and utilization management initiatives
  • Provide clinical guidance and support to internal departments
  • Address pharmacy-related clinical inquiries and escalations
  • Ensure appropriate pharmacy quality controls and identify performance improvement opportunities
  • Develop and maintain pharmacy department policies and procedures
  • Participate in Medicare Medication Therapy Management (MTM) activities
  • Collaborate with case management teams and support clinical rounds presentations
  • Support Drug Utilization Review (DUR) initiatives for Medicare and Medicaid populations

Typical Day in the Role

  • Review approximately 140 160 prior authorization requests or coverage determinations daily
  • Conduct clinical evaluations using pharmacy guidelines and formulary criteria
  • Collaborate with internal pharmacy and clinical teams
  • Support ongoing pharmacy operational workflows and utilization review activities

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor s Degree in Pharmacy

    OR
  • PharmD (Doctor of Pharmacy)

Experience

  • 1 3 years of pharmacy experience preferred
  • Experience in one or more of the following settings:
    • Managed care pharmacy
    • Mail order pharmacy
    • Retail pharmacy
    • Hospital pharmacy
  • Pharmacy residency experience may substitute for experience requirements

Licensure

  • Current unrestricted Pharmacist license in any U.S. state
