Job Description

This role focuses on accurately selecting orders, building and staging pallets by hand, and safely operating stand-up and high reach forklifts in a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. You will support both outbound order fulfillment and inbound receiving by loading and unloading trailers, putting away materials, and preparing products for shipment using paper pick sheets and, in the near future, RF scanners.

Responsibilities

• Select and pick customer orders accurately using paper pick sheets, ensuring correct items, quantities, and locations.
• Build, load, and secure pallets by hand, maintaining stable and safe pallet configurations for transport.
• Operate a stand-up high reach forklift from day one to retrieve, move, and store pallets in racking and designated warehouse locations.
• Load and unload trailers and trucks efficiently and safely, ensuring products are handled with care.
• Perform receiving selector duties by unloading inbound materials and putting them away in proper storage locations for future picking.
• Use manual case picking methods by bringing pallets into aisles with a forklift and hand-stacking cases onto pallets.
• Operate pallet jacks and reach trucks to move pallets and materials throughout the warehouse.
• Stage completed orders in the correct loading areas for outbound shipment.
• Support inventory activities by moving, organizing, and tracking products as directed.
• Adapt to working in all sections of the warehouse, including freezer, refrigerator, and ambient areas, as needed each day.
• Follow all safety procedures and equipment guidelines while operating forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area, contributing to overall warehouse cleanliness.
• Use basic computer skills and, as implemented, RF scanners to process orders and inventory transactions.
• Collaborate with a small warehouse team to meet daily production and shipping goals.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience as an order selector with a strong experience in order picking and pallet building by hand.
• Demonstrated ability to operate a stand-up forklift safely and effectively.
• Hands-on experience operating a high reach forklift, with the ability to perform high reach tasks from day one.
• Experience loading and unloading trailers and trucks in a warehouse environment.
• Manual case picking experience, including using a forklift to bring pallets into aisles and hand-stacking cases onto pallets.
• Ability to read and follow paper pick sheets accurately to fulfill customer orders.
• Comfort working in freezer environments around 0 degrees, as well as refrigerated and ambient warehouse areas.
• Basic computer skills to support order processing and inventory tasks.
• Ability to operate pallet jacks and reach trucks safely.
• Capability to perform physical work, including lifting, stacking, and moving products throughout a full shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with RF scanners or electronic picking systems, or willingness to learn as the warehouse transitions from paper pick sheets.
• Prior experience in a temperature-controlled food distribution or similar warehouse environment.
• Familiarity with inventory handling, organization, and staging processes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in order selection and pallet building.
• Ability to adapt to a growing operation and support changing processes and technologies.
• Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic in a fast-paced warehouse setting.

Work Environment

The warehouse is clean, organized, and temperature-controlled, with distinct sections including a freezer at approximately 0 degrees (about 15% of the building), a refrigerated area (about 20% of the building), and the remaining space maintained around 60–65 degrees due to overall cooling. Employees must be comfortable working in any section of the warehouse on a given day, including the freezer. The operation currently has around 20 people on the floor, with plans to grow significantly over the next several quarters. The role is on first shift, typically from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Employees use stand-up high reach forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks, and will transition from paper pick sheets to electronic systems and RF scanners. Overalls for the freezer section can be provided, or employees may wear their own appropriate cold-weather clothing to stay warm while working.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of York, PA.

The pay range for this position is $19.25 - $19.25/hr.
