Job Title: Part Time Legal Assistant 

Industry: Nonprofit / Professional Services

Location: Arlington, VA

Assignment Type: Contract-to-hire (evaluation at 90 days)

Pay: $32 – $34 / Hour (depending on experience)

Work Schedule: Part-time, up to 20 hours per week; standard business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM). Hybrid schedule with 2 days onsite required.

Benefits: This position is eligible for medical, dental, vision and 401(k).

Job Description:

This role provides administrative and project coordination support to the Legal Department, working closely with senior leadership. The position requires handling sensitive information, managing multiple priorities, and contributing to legal operations in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and track legal projects, ensuring deadlines and priorities are clearly managed
  • Serve as a central point of contact for legal requests and communications
  • Maintain organized filing systems and documentation for legal records
  • Assist with committee support, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, and documenting outcomes
  • Draft, edit, and format correspondence and legal-related documents
  • Conduct basic research and compile findings for legal review
  • Manage contract processing through a contract management system
  • Track departmental expenses and assist with budget monitoring
  • Provide calendar management, travel coordination, and administrative support for senior legal leadership
  • Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments
  • Support compliance-related processes and disclosure tracking
  • Assist with additional projects as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of administrative or operations support experience (legal environment adjacent preferred)
  • Experience with contract tracking, document management, and project coordination
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); experience with contract management tools is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-starter with a proactive and dependable work style
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
